Parkinson’s Support Group in Alsager

Since January 2026 a new support programme has been running at Alsager Civic Centre on Thursdays from 1.30 pm until 3.00 pm for people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. These sessions are led by an experienced instructor drawing upon Tai Chi gentle movements that can help with balance, flexibility and muscle strength. Physical exercise is combined with meditation practice to support mental health and cognitive ability.

Participants have described their experience of the programme as ‘life- changing’ and bringing real ‘benefits to their mental and physical condition’.

The sessions conclude with tea, coffee, biscuits and chat as participants have formed a mutual support group so that there is a welcoming social atmosphere that is also highly valued by everyone.

This programme has been supported by a grant awarded to Cedars Patient Group from Parkinson’s UK.
