There will be some temporary changes to waste and recycling services over the festive season.
Bin collections
There will be no black or silver bin collections on any of the Bank Holidays – Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.
If you’d usually have your bins collected on these days, you’ll have your collections rescheduled. Check your bin collection day.
Household waste recycling centres
Are you planning on visiting one of our household waste recycling centres? They’ll be open as normal over the festive season, from 8.30am to 4pm, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day when they will be closed.
The sites will close at 1pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Garden Waste Recycling Scheme
The last garden bin collections will be on Friday 19 December.
If you want to have your garden bin collected next year, you’ll need to sign up or renew your subscription to our garden waste recycling scheme. Our 2026 scheme starts from Monday 19 January.
