The process for setting the Council’s budget for the 2023-24 financial year commenced during the Autumn. The budget has thus far been subject to review by the Council’s service committees and the Finance, Policy & Governance Committee will meet at Alsager Civic at 4:00pm on Tuesday, 13 December 2022 to consider the first view of the consolidated total budget and to make changes as required or to recommend the overall budget for 2023-24 to the Town Council.
This year, in particular, the draft budget shows a large deficit partly due to the cost of living crisis and large increase in utility bills. The Town Council will consider measures to reduce the impact to residents at their meetings, which may result in a very different final budget being approved.
In the interests of transparency, the draft budget being proposed to the Finance, Policy and Governance Committee is made available on the Council’s website and is available for inspection at the Council offices, upon request by appointment. Members of the public are encouraged to review the document and attend the Finance, Policy & Governance Committee meeting to speak in public participation on matters of interest within the budget.

Following this meeting, the draft budget will be updated to incorporate any changes recommended by the Finance, Policy & Governance Committee, and a revised version will be available on the Council’s website and available for inspection at the Council offices, upon request by appointment.
The Finance, Policy and Governance Committee will recommend the overall budget for 2023-24 to the Town Council.
On the 10 January 2023 the Town Council will agree the 2023-24 budget and set the level of Precept for 2023-24.
