DfT’s Emergency Active Travel fund (Summer 2020) was used to install 8 temporary traffic management schemes in response to the COVID pandemic, the first lockdown and the effects these had on travel behaviour. This programme included measures at Lodge Road / Sandbach Road North in Alsager.
Throughout this period, public views on the measures have been sought and captured using our web consultation portal https://cheshireeastactivetravel.commonplace.is/. In addition, site inspections, monitoring and other correspondence have all provided feedback on the measures.
The review of the Lodge Road scheme in Alsager is now complete. Based upon consideration of the level of use by pedestrians and cyclists, its impacts on other road users, the level of support expressed in consultation responses, a decision has been made to withdraw the temporary measures.
