MESSAGE FROM CHESHIRE EAST
Thank you to the 2,200+ residents who completed our recent budget prioritisation survey – your feedback helped shape the proposals we’re now consulting on.
We’re facing a £18.2m funding gap for next year (2026/27) and need to make careful choices to protect vital services like social care, roads, and waste collection.
Now we want your views on the detailed budget proposals including:
- Workforce savings: Saving around £8.3 million by managing vacancies when people leave or retire.
- Income generation: Above-inflation fee increases from Jan 2027 (+£1.25m), plus new ideas like pet cremation services, advertising on council assets like roundabouts, and biodiversity credits.
- Adults and health: £11.8m savings through prevention and service transformation.
- Children and families: £3.8m savings via placement reviews and new accommodation models.
- Council-wide transformation: £13.5m savings through digital automation and streamlined processes.
Please take part in this consultation. Your views will help shape the final budget, which will be decided by Full Council in February 2026.
